Thousands of Lebanese demonstrators—most of them under the age of 30—marched through Beirut last week in an effort to separate religion from politics.

The push for secularism in a region mostly defined by religious identity and religious politics is seen as a mostly younger-generational idea; a campaign where groups were mobilized through social networking sites like Facebook.

Getting caught in the dreaded long, awkward silences, the pregnant pauses and having a total lack of common interests is killer for a burgeoning relationship.

A lot of people have a hard time finding the right things to say, and aren’t exactly sure how to even start a conversation with someone they’re interested in.
Having a connection with someone on a date is great. When it goes perfectly, when you seem to have everything in common and you can talk for hours about everything under the sun, it’s a great feeling, right?

But what about when the date turns out horribly, horribly wrong?
The universal truth behind the end of most relationships is this: the relationship may have been hard, but the breakup is even more difficult.

No matter why you broke up, both people tend to nurture feelings of regret, failure and hurt that can take quite some time to get over.

For Arab singles, there are unique ways to try to get over this person and to move on with your life.

Accentuating Eyes with the Right Makeup

Posted by: ArabLounge Staff In: Arab Culture| Arab Stuff| Lifestyle

Eyes are the portal into the soul, as the saying goes. They are oftentimes the most noticeable, attractive and alluring facet of a woman’s face, a fact that Arab women have known distinctly for centuries.
The eyes are often the only thing that can be seen behind a burqa, and many women use their beautiful eyes to stand out among a sea of sameness.

The right tools, makeup and techniques are essential when accentuating the eyes, and a few tips to getting eyes that stand out are:

The fighting, the stony silences, cold shoulders, and the constant berating. When a relationship is in the midst of a crisis, it can spell disaster for other aspects of your life, too.

If your relationship is in the dumps, it’s likely that it’s affecting your performance in other aspects of your life, as well. That’s why when things aren’t going well, taking a break is a great option to just recharge yourselves and focus on yourself.
So when do you know if you need to spend time apart? There’s no magic formula, but there are some warning signs that should be a red flag:

Trying to land and keep a job is hard enough in these tough economic times, but finding a good job in a field that interests you is even harder.
There are hundreds of applicants for every position open and competition has never been more fierce. People are doing whatever they can to improve their chances at getting a job that’s desirable, has long-term potential, and of course, high compensation.

Having a bachelor’s degree or even a masters sometimes just doesn’t equal into a cushy job like it once used to.

Ever been in that situation where you thought someone liked you and it turned out they didn’t? Or that you were absolutely sure you were just friends, and they turned out to have feelings for you?
Guess what? It happens all the time, and yes, it happens to almost everyone. There are overt signs, and then there are the clues that you’d have to just know to be able to tell that they’re interested in that way.
