Arabs Heritage Celebration
April 30, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Event Navigation
Palestine in the Prairie Folkloric Group was created with a mission to develop events dedicated to the meeting of Arabic and Western cultures. We see dance as a way to connect and hope to represent modern bodies of work through dance, music, theater and multidisciplinary arts.
The aim of the audience development programs is intercultural exchange. Artists from Manitoba and elsewhere in Canada will participate and will provide the greatest opportunity for ongoing involvement in folk arts and cultural programming, and encourage collaboration and exchange for local artists.
Our concerts are not to be missed and are sure to please all ages. A showcase of talent that explains a story with Arabic traditions re-imagined, a renewal of these traditional Arab rhythms and musical genres with beats that create a body action, and the equation yields Dance. You will see rare performances that will include the 18th century classical pieces from the Ottoman court, 19th century Folks dabkeh and Egyptian country pieces Will dance Andalusian, Sudanese African and all the way to Classical Ballet, using various props including veil, swords, straw trays, clay jars, baskets, 19th century harvest tools and silk fans.
