Refugee Adjustment Day – Portland, Oregon

We are looking for volunteers to sign up for at least one shift on the day—you are welcome to sign up for more. Please email refugee@cccoregon.org with your interest to volunteer.
Shifts available: 8:30 am-11:30 am, 11:30 am-2:30 pm, 2:30 pm-5:30 pm, 5:30 pm-8:30 pm (wrapping up services and cleaning up)
Volunteer positions include:
· Greeter (1)
· Volunteer Leads–coverage/floating help, orientation for each shift, communicate with CC staff (2)
. Volunteer Registration/Sign In
· Refugee Registration/Sign In (2)
· Waiting Area Oversight & Support (1)
· Snack Area Oversight & Support (1)
· Childcare Area Oversight & Support–movies, toys, games will be available (2)
· Runners/Copiers-provide support to ~3 attorneys (5-6)
· Escorts (2)
· Garage Door Access/welcome-assisting attorneys to get upstairs after parking (2)
o Volunteers may work on sorting and organization of the Refugee Resettlement Supply Closet in the garage as the other work will be sporadic as attorneys come & go from shifts.
If you have a preferred position, please let me know but be flexible in working with where you might be most needed that day. The first floor of our building will house the registration, waiting area, snacks and childcare. Escorts will assist in accessing the 3rd & 4th floor for “appointments” as attorneys and interpreters are available.

Donations
If you are interested in providing donations to refugees, below are some are our most needed items that can be collected day of or dropped off anytime to our office:
· Kitchen: Utensils, kitchen tools, pots & pans, cups/glasses, plates, bowls, tea kettles, dish racks, cuttings boards, rice cookers
· Linens: Towels, sheets (especially twin & queen), blankets, pillows, laundry soap
· Household Supplies: Alarm clocks, paper, pens, light bulbs, dish soap, clothes hangers
· Toiletries: Toilet paper, shampoo, soap, toothbrush/paste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products
· Cleaning Supplies: Sponges, mop/broom, paper towels, all-purpose cleaner, trash bags, laundry detergent, laundry baskets
We can also take children’s toys, winter jackets, hats/gloves/scarves and other basic household items. If you have questions about specific needs or items, please let me know. I have additional information for those interested in hosting a supply drive or gathering the necessary items to set up the apartment of a refugee newcomer.
