Arabic Drumming – Learn to play the Tabla!

Time to get your Dum Tek on! BellyUp and Troupe Obskurah’s Paul Ge present Tabla workshops ideal for Beginners and those with experience who want to brush up on their Arabic drumming skills. No previous experience necessary and is open to all levels; including dancers, musicians, and anyone who would like to try their hands on a drum!

Essential for Bellydancers who want to develop their musicality and improve their rhythm and is perfect for men, women and kids that have a passion for Arabic percussion. 6 hours of training (two hours per workshop) will teach you the drum basics and many of the essential Arabic rhythms.

The Arabic drum, also known as the Tabla, Doumbek, and Darbuka, is designed to give students a solid foundation in the standard Arabic rhythms used in Egyptian music and bellydance music, including Malfouf, Saidi, Beledi, Maqsoum, Masmoudi, Wahda Kebir, Fellahi and Ayoub to name a few. Drum loaners are available but we recommend you buy your own so you can practice at home in between workshops.
