Discussion: History of doubt in the Muslim World – London, UK

September 13, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

£3 - £5

A presentation followed by a discussion on doubt, skeptcism and humanist thought in Muslim history.

The presentation will be heavily based on Abdel Rahman Badaw’s book (in Arabic) ‘The history of Atheism in Islam’ and will go over some of the most famous doubters in Muslim history particularly during the Abbasid dynasty (750-1258). Many of these thinkers were heavily influenced by Greek philosophy and while some tried to reconcile Islam with the ideas of Aristotle and other Greek philosophers others out right rejected the notions of prophethood and revelation.
