Iraqi Festival of Toronto

The Iraqi Canadian Society of Ontario is inviting you to join the annual Iraqi Festival of Toronto, in collaboration with several communities and organizations representing diverse ethnicities and backgrounds. The main event will be during the weekend of September 17, 2016 and includes a fine art gallery, exhibition, traditional entertainment shows, theatre shows, short-movie plays, dialogues, and many other activities.

Events activities will take place in four different section of our venue over two full days and those include: Exhibition Hall, Theatre, Lounge, and an Art Gallery.

  • Day 1 Activities: intro, guest registration, welcome show, heritage exchange dialogue, theatre shows, short movie plays.
  • Day 2 Activities: traditional dance show, theatre shows, short movie plays.
  • Fine Art Exhibition to be open a week prior to the festival in a gallery (exhibition will host more then 7 Iraqi Painters and will invite Yahya Al- Shaikh from Norway )

 

The event will be open to public and is expected to draw the attention and participation of over 10,000 people of Arabic background in addition to others in the community. Dignitaries representing various communities will be invited to the event, such as local MPs, council members and activities. The list of invitees include Mayor Bonnie Crombie and MPs: Omar Alghabra, Iqra Khalid, Arif Virani, Ziad Aboultaif, Ahmed Hussen, Ali Ehsassi and Minister Maryam Monsef. Those who do not speak Arabic are also welcome and translated material will be at their convenience.
