Oumeima El Khalil & Marwan Makhoul Performing at Georgetown University

The General Delegation of the PLO to the United States and the Georgetown Center for Contemporary Arab Studies are pleased to announce a joint performance by world renowned singer-songwriter Oumeima El Khalil and the masterful poet Marwan Makhoul. This unforgettable duo will be performing at Georgetown University’s Gaston Hall on Sunday, October 30, 2016.

 

 

Oumeima El Khalil is an established Lebanese singer who interprets her culture and passion for music to a worldwide audience.  She has a voice that has been touching her diverse fan base for decades and she continues to thrive in the music industry today. Oumeima collaborates with Marcel Khalife on several of his albums and began her solo career in 1994 with the breakthrough record, “Khallini Ghannilak”.   She released her 4th  Solo album, “Zaman”, in spring 2013. And her 5th Album “Matar.”

 

 

Marwan Makhoul is a Palestinian poet, born in 1979 in the village of Boquai’a, Upper Galilee, to a Palestinian father and a Lebanese mother. He has several works published in poetry, prose and drama. Makhoul won several prizes and awards of which the prize of best playwright in The Acre Theatre Festival in 2009 for his first play. His poetry has appeared worldwide in Arabic publications, and several of his poems have been set to music. Selections from his poetry have been translated into English, Turkish, Italian, German, French, Hebrew, Irish, Serbian and Hindi.
