April 27, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Near the 100th anniversary of Britain’s surrender of Kut-al-Amara (present day Iraq), learn how World War I’s dark inheritance is especially apparent in a core territory made up of five countries – Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Israel – and one seemingly permanent non-state, Palestine. Dr. John Calvert, Professor of Middle East History at Creighton University will explore the emergence of the modern Middle East including the roles played by T.E. Lawrence (“Lawrence of Arabia”), the Arab Revolt and the Allies’ wartime agreements. FREE with RSV.
