“When I saw you” Screening in Londonderry

October 12, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a special screening of the award winning film, “When I saw you”. Plus a short discussion of Arabic films.

“When I saw you” (Lamma shoftak) is set in Jordan in 1967. Tens of thousands of refugees pour across the border from Palestine. Having been separated from his father in the chaos of war, Tarek, 11, and his mother Ghaydaa, are amongst this latest wave of refugees. Placed in “temporary” refugee camps, Tarek runs away in a search for freedom, and takes us all on a journey of the human spirit that knows no borders.

Everyone over 12 is welcome to this workshop. The film will start by 7:10 so that it ends by 8:50pm. Our collection of Arabic films on DVD will also be available. Facilitated by Fadl Mustapha as part of Sole Purpose Productions’ Sharek Project funded by Derry & Strabane District Council.

This workshop is part of Sole Purpose Productions’ Sharek Project funded by Derry & Strabane District Council. Recently, a dozen families from war-torn Syria found safe harbour in Derry. The Sharek Project celebrates this latest diversity, and provides channels for friendship and integration with new residents.
