World-renowned composer and pianist, Malek Jandali, is recognized as a leading figure in today’s piano world. Malek’s prolific compositions integrate Middle-Eastern modes into Western classical forms and harmony. They range from chamber music to large-scale orchestral works including concertos for violin and piano. Malek has performed with orchestras all over the world, and is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards. He is also a vocal advocate for victims of human rights abuses at the hand of the Syrian army, including his own parents. In addition to the morning school performance, Malek is open to spending an afternoon at WUHS doing workshops with aspiring composers and musicians.
